KL Sentral to Rawang by ETS Train

For those traveling from KL Sentral to Rawang, the journey is served by the Northbound Train line and there are Gold and Silver class trains available. The shortest travel time for both Silver and Gold class trains is 45 minutes.

The cost of a ticket for the Silver class starts at RM11.00, and for the Gold class, the starting price is RM13.00. Tickets can be purchased online or at the ticket counter at the station.

KL Sentral to Rawang by KTM Komuter

Travelers taking the train from KL Sentral to Rawang will use the Pelabuhan Klang – Tanjung Malim rail line. This journey includes stops at 10 stations between the departure and arrival points. The shortest duration for the trip is 60 minutes, which is the same on both weekdays and weekends.

Tickets for this route can be bought at the stations, and it’s important to note that advance ticket purchases are not available for the KTM Komuter service.

Departure Point – KL Sentral and Kuala Lumpur Station

KL Sentral

KL Sentral Station, located in the southwest of Kuala Lumpur City, is a modern transportation hub that connects major modes of transportation, making it the main departure point for those traveling from Kuala Lumpur to Rawang. 

The station is divided into different sections for various rail services, with the ETS located on Level Two of the Transit Concourse, where passengers can purchase ETS tickets at the ETS Ticket Counter and wait for their train in the waiting area.

In addition to the ETS, KL Sentral serves as an interchange station for KTM Komuter’s Port Klang Line and Seremban Line. KTM Komuter is located at Level One of the station. Tickets can be purchased at the ticket counters and ticketing machines located on both sides of Level 1 of KL Sentral’s main concourse, while the KTM Komuter trains are located on Level 1 of KL Sentral’s Transit Concourse.

Moreover, visitors and workers in the KL Sentral area can take advantage of the parking lot, retail and food outlets, and food court available at the station.

Kuala Lumpur Station

The Kuala Lumpur Station, situated on Jalan Sultan Hishamuddin Street, provides a second departure point for those traveling to Rawang. It is only 400 meters away from Pasar Seni MRT station and Pasar Seni LRT station, which can be reached through the pedestrian walkway over the Klang River. 

This station is renowned for its colonial-style architecture dating back to the early 1900s and mainly serves KTM Intercity trains, which are a more affordable option compared to the ETS trains. 

Apart from basic facilities like food outlets, a parking lot, and a convenience store, the station also has ticket counters and waiting areas for passengers.

Arrival Point: Rawang Station

Rawang Station is a busy railway station located in Rawang, Selangor, Malaysia that serves as a stop for both KTM Komuter and KTM ETS train services and is located within a 10-minute walk from the bus terminal. It has one side platform and one island platform, with a total of six tracks. 

The station offers various facilities and services to its passengers, including a surau for prayer, a kiosk for snacks and drinks, a Touch ‘n Go lane, ticket counters, toilets, parking, ticket vending machines, lifts, and an ATM. The station operates from 6:15 to 21:30 daily, providing convenient access to commuters and travelers.

Alternatives

There is currently no direct MRT or LRT line that connects to Rawang. The nearest stations are Sungai Buloh for the MRT (located about 18 km from Rawang) and Gombak for the LRT (located approximately 26 km from the city). While these options may require additional transportation to reach Rawang, they can be a viable alternative to avoid the crowds and congestion at the Rawang railway station.
