KL Sentral Station

KL Sentral Station, located in the Brickfields area of Kuala Lumpur, is a modern transportation hub that connects various modes of transportation, including trains, buses, taxis, and light rail transit (LRT). It offers convenient access to different parts of the city, as well as intercity and international destinations. 

The ETS departure point is located on Level Two of the Transit Concourse, where travelers can find the ETS Ticket Counter and waiting area.

Kuala Lumpur Station

Kuala Lumpur Station, located at Jalan Sultan Hishamuddin, is a stunning colonial-style train station that dates back to the early 1900s. It primarily serves KTM Intercity trains, which offer a more affordable option for travel compared to the ETS trains departing from KL Sentral Station. The station features various facilities such as food outlets, a parking lot, and a convenience store. 

Arrival point: Kampar KTM Station

The Kampar KTM Station (Stesen KTM Kampar) is located in the southwest area of the old town of Kampar, Perak. It is named after the town and is easily accessible by road from the old town or via a junction on Federal Route 1 to Taman Melayu Jaya. Additionally, the station is only a 5-minute drive from Kampar Bus Terminal. 

The station layout consists of two side platforms, with Platform 1 serving northward trains to Ipoh, Butterworth, and Padang Besar, while Platform 2 is usually for southward trains to KL Sentral and Gemas. Passengers can access the platforms via a pedestrian bridge with elevator and stair access available.

The station lobby features a ticketing office, station offices, and toilets on both the platform and entrance sides. For Muslim passengers, there is a musolla (prayer room) available.

Alternative – Buses from Kuala Lumpur to Kampar

For those planning a bus journey from Kuala Lumpur to Kampar, buses are available from KL Sentral or TBS (Terminal Bersepadu Selatan), with the trip typically taking between 5 to 9 hours, although this can be longer depending on traffic.

Travelers need to know that buses in Malaysia do not have toilets on board due to legal requirements. However, there is a scheduled stop at a gas station along the way for restroom use, ensuring that the trip is comfortable for passengers.

About ETS

Widely regarded as the fastest meter gauge train service in the country, the ETS can reach speeds of up to 140 km/h. It operates along the electrified and double-tracked stretch of the West Coast Line, which spans from Gemas to Padang Besar on the Malaysia-Thai border. 

Train Classes

ETS offers three classes: Platinum, Gold, and Silver. Platinum (EP) is the fastest, stopping only at major stations. Gold (EG) stops at more stations, and Silver is the most economical, stopping at nearly all stations.

Prices vary by class, time, and distance, with Platinum being the priciest. Tickets can be bought online, at stations, or via travel agents, with discounts for some groups. All classes provide comfortable seating, power outlets, storage, and air conditioning.

Train Facilities

ETS trains offer various facilities to cater to the diverse needs of its passengers. For those who need a prayer room, a musolla is available in coach C. Passengers can also visit the F&B Bistro, located in coach C. Luggage rack areas are available in coach A and F for passengers to store their belongings safely. Special seats are provided in coach D for elderly and disabled passengers. These seats are located near the unisex OKU-friendly washroom, ensuring ease of access for those with mobility issues. In addition to these amenities, LCD screens are available at the end of each coach and in the passenger hallway to keep passengers informed about the journey.
