The ETS, or Electric Train Service, departs from Level Two of the Transit Concourse in KL Sentral Station. Here, you can find the ETS Ticket Counter, waiting area, and amenities like retail outlets, a food court, and a parking lot.

Kuala Lumpur Station

Another departure point is Kuala Lumpur Station, located at Jalan Sultan Hishamuddin. Arrival Point: Ipoh Station

The Ipoh Station, named after the capital city of Perak, is a train station located in the southwestern area of Ipoh, at Jalan Panglima Bukit Gantang Wahab, where it shares its location with the Ipoh Main Post Office, Ipoh Court Complex, and the Ipoh Town Hall. Visitors can also explore nearby landmarks, including the Birch Memorial Clock Tower, Padang Ipoh, Tun Razak Library, and the State Mosque. Moreover, the bus station is located just 10 minutes away on foot from the station.

The station serves as the primary railway terminal for the state of Perak under Keretapi Tanah Melayu, providing KTM ETS services, as well as handling freight trains. Although there are nine tracks, only four are electrified, and three of the electrified tracks are utilized for the ETS service. The remaining six tracks are used for freight trains.

Alternative – Buses from Kuala Lumpur to Ipoh

For travelers planning to take a bus from Kuala Lumpur to Ipoh, services are available from TBS (Terminal Bersepadu Selatan), with the journey typically lasting between 3 to 5 hours. However, this duration can be extended depending on the traffic conditions.

The Electric Train Service (ETS) in Malaysia is recognized as the swiftest meter gauge train service, capable of reaching speeds of 140 km/h. Its route covers the electrified and double-tracked portion of the West Coast Line between Gemas and Padang Besar on the border of Malaysia and Thailand.
