Departure Point – Butterworth Station

Butterworth Railway Station is located in Butterworth, Penang, Malaysia, close to the Sultan Abdul Hamid Ferry Terminal and Penang Sentral bus station. The station allows passengers to travel easily to George Town on Penang Island by ferry.

The station is the first stop on the KTM Komuter railway line to Padang Besar at the Malaysia-Thailand border. This makes it possible for passengers to transfer to Thailand’s State Railway system to travel further north, including to Bangkok. Butterworth Station is also connected to the West Coast Railway Line, and is served by KTM Intercity and KTM ETS trains that operate between Gemas and Butterworth.

Butterworth Station has several facilities such as an indoor waiting area, restrooms, and a convenience store. However, the station doesn’t have restaurant services or luggage storage facilities. Tickets can be purchased at two counters on the second floor of the station building.
