The station is a departure point for the KTM Komuter Line to Padang Besar and connects to Thailand Railway Services for destinations like Bangkok and Hat Yai. It is also on the West Coast Railway Line for KTM ETS trains between Gemas and Butterworth. 

Facilities at the station include an indoor waiting area, toilets, and a convenience store, but there are no restaurant services or luggage facilities. Ticket counters are located on the second floor.

The Alor Setar railway station is in Alor Setar, the capital city of Kedah, and serves the KTM ETS and KTM Komuter Northern Sector services. The station is a 15-minute walk from the city center, making it accessible for passengers. 

It has several facilities, including a digital information display board, a prayer room, an elevator, and a ticket counter. Additionally, the station offers a sheltered waiting area and toilet facilities to cater to the basic needs and comfort of travelers while they wait for their train services.

How to get from Alor Setar Station to Langkawi?

To get from Alor Setar Railway Station to Langkawi Island, you have a couple of options. The most convenient way is to take a taxi from the railway station to the Kuala Kedah jetty, which is about 13 km away, and it should cost around 20 MYR. From the jetty, you can take a ferry to Langkawi Island.

Alternatively, if you’re looking to save money, you can walk from the railway station to the city center, which should take about 10-15 minutes, and catch a local bus to the Kuala Kedah jetty.

Ferry tickets to Langkawi can be purchased on their website for 34.50 MYR per adult. There are five ferries operating daily, providing flexibility for your travel to Langkawi Island.

Alternative – Buses from Butterworth to Alor Setar
